Point your camera at a code or drop an image

A photo of a menu, business card or sticker works. You can also paste an image. You can pick several files at once and get a report.

The image is decoded on your device and never uploaded.

Not just QR: 74 more barcode and 2D code types — EAN-13, Code 128, Data Matrix, PDF417 and more. Pick a type in the strip at the top or in the round button on the right. All codes (74)

QR table 7
Middleman ahead
Final page cafe.example/menu 2 redirects via qr-link.example
This code goes through qr-link.example. It works only as long as the middleman does: after a free trial the service can switch the redirect off.

How to read the signs

We show facts about the code instead of rating it “safe.” The decision stays with you.

Direct route

The code stores the page address itself. There’s no middleman, and the code won’t expire as long as your site is up.

Middleman ahead

The code points to someone else’s service, which forwards people on. If that service turns forwarding off, everything you printed stops opening.

stop

The route doesn’t open

The final page isn’t responding, or the middleman has already closed the redirect. Make a new direct code to the same page.

Why QR codes stop working

Many “free” generators don’t put your page address in the code. They put in their own short link. A scan lands on their server first, and they forward it on. As long as forwarding is on, everything works.

When the free trial ends, the service can switch forwarding off. Table menus, business cards, packaging and signs are still printed, but they stop opening until the owner pays for a subscription.

Static vs. dynamic codes

A static code stores the page address itself, so it doesn’t need our service or anyone else’s. A dynamic code stores a middleman’s link. You can change its address after printing, but it works only as long as the middleman does.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Checking a code and making a static code are free, with no sign-up. The code never expires: it stores your address, not our link.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The code is decoded right in your browser. When you press “Show the full route,” only the address from the code goes to our server so it can follow the redirects. The image stays with you.

Do you tell me whether a link is safe?

No, and that’s on purpose. We show facts: the exact address, any middlemen along the way and the final page. Whether to open it is your call.

Why does my code go through a middleman if I made it for free?

Many generators make dynamic codes by default, which lets them ask for payment later to keep the code working. Check your code here and, while it still opens, make a direct code to the same page.

Can I change the address in a static code after printing?

No. That’s the price of independence: a new address needs a new code. If the address may change, make a permanent page on your own site and point the code there.

Which file should I use for print?

SVG. It’s a vector file and stays sharp at any size. PNG works for websites, slides and social media.

What do the paid plans include?

Batches: codes for a whole table at once — say, one per table or product — with labels. The ZIP has an SVG, a vector PDF and a PNG for every code, plus a print sheet. Monthly is $9 a month, Lifetime is $39 once, and Lifetime Pro is $69 once with no ads.

What does “damage resistance” mean?

High resistance lets a code be read even if part of it is scratched or dirty. The pattern gets denser. Choose it for outdoor stickers and small print.
